Coordination Meeting with International Partners

On June 18, 2025, the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) organized a coordination meeting with international partners on the Action Plans of the “National Strategy for the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism 2024-2030” and the “National Risk Assessment” with the aim of coordinating assistance and support for the implementation of the measures of these strategic documents.

The meeting was attended by representatives from: the Delegation of the European Union to Albania, the Council of Europe, the Embassy of the United States of America, the British Embassy, the Swiss Embassy, the Italian Embassy, the German Embassy, the French Embassy, GIZ, the EU4LEA2 Project, the Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC) and the European Movement Albania (EMA).

In his opening remarks, the General Director of the Financial Intelligence Agency, Mr. Ervin Koçi, expressed his thanks and gratitude for the continuous support of international partners in Albania’s commitment to strengthening the national system for the Prevention of Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT), emphasizing close cooperation with member institutions of the Inter-Institutional Technical Working Group (ITWG), both from the public and private sectors, as a key actor for the effective implementation of the measures of the National Strategy and the National Risk Assessment in the field of AML/CFT.

With particular emphasis, the essential role in the cooperation with international partners for improving capacities and increasing institutional sustainability was highlighted.

During the meeting, data on the results of the measures provided and implemented on the Action Plan by the private and public sectors were reflected thanks to the support provided through technical assistance and the interventions planned in function of the priorities of the strategic documents as above.

International partners appreciated the commitment, transparency and effectiveness of the process so far, reconfirming their willingness to continue their support.
