The Financial Intelligence Agency Participated in the 32nd Egmont Group Plenary in Baku, Azerbaijan

The Financial Intelligence Agency participated in the 32nd Egmont Group Plenary, as well as the Working Group and Regional Group meetings, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 5 to 10 July 2026.

The event brought together more than 400 delegates from Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs), international partner organizations, observers, and experts from around the world, serving as the foremost annual forum for strengthening international cooperation in combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial threats.

During the Plenary, participants discussed the Egmont Group’s strategic priorities, approved important projects in the field of financial intelligence, and took part in thematic sessions focusing on public-private partnerships, digital transformation, the use of artificial intelligence in financial analysis, crimes involving virtual assets, and emerging challenges in combating terrorist financing.

One of the most significant developments of this year’s Plenary was the admission of four new Financial Intelligence Units from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Madagascar, and Rwanda, bringing the total Egmont Group membership to 186 FIUs and further strengthening the global network of cooperation among Financial Intelligence Units.

The participation of the Financial Intelligence Agency in this event reaffirms its commitment to actively contributing to the international exchange of financial intelligence, promoting the implementation of international standards, and strengthening cooperation with international partners in the fight against money laundering, terrorist financing, and financial crime.
