The Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) participated in the second Steering Committee meeting of the “Countering Money Laundering in Albania” (CMLA) project.
The meeting reviewed the progress achieved over the past six months and discussed priorities for the next phase of implementation, with a focus on strengthening Albania’s AML/CFT/PF framework, supporting preparations for the sixth-round MONEYVAL mutual evaluation, and advancing alignment with European and international standards.
Among the priorities for the next phase, particular attention was given to strengthening the FIA’s strategic analysis capacities, addressing emerging financial crime risks, and enhancing inter-agency cooperation.
The FIA continues to contribute actively to strengthening Albania’s national AML/CFT/PF framework through the development of strategic analysis capacities, the identification and assessment of financial crime risks, and close cooperation with national institutions and international partners.
The “Countering Money Laundering in Albania” (CMLA) project is co-funded by SECO and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe. The Financial Intelligence Agency expresses its appreciation to SECO and the Council of Europe for their continued support and cooperation, which contribute to strengthening institutional capacities and advancing joint efforts to prevent and combat money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing in Albania.
