Meeting with the Builders Association on financial education

On 13.02.2025, the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) organized a meeting with the Builders Association on the “Education Strategy and Public Awareness on the Risk of Preventing Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (ML/FT)”, at the premises of the FIA.

 

During the meeting, the discussion focused on strengthening cooperation between institutions and the preventive measures that builders should take on ML/FT issues.

During their work, members of the association but also all builders should pay attention to:

– educating clients on ML/FT issues and the risk that this phenomenon poses;

– creating curricula/brochures with information on ML/FT;

– reducing cash payments by clients;

– taking enhanced vigilance measures for non-resident clients;

– paying increased attention to reporting suspicious cases.

 

The meeting emphasized that FIA remains available to organize trainings with the construction association, and would also appreciate the organization of trainings by the construction association with experts in the field to raise awareness among the construction community about the preventive measures that should be taken in the context of preventing money laundering and terrorist financing.

 

In conclusion, the participants expressed their gratitude and willingness to increase cooperation so that the country can achieve the best possible results in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.
