On 03/02/2025, the Financial Intelligence Agency (AIF) organized a meeting with the National Chamber of Notaries (NHN) on the “Education Strategy and Public Awareness on the Risk of ML/TF”, at the NHN premises. The purpose of the education strategy is to raise public awareness on the issues of money laundering and terrorist financing (ML/TF). Notaries are a very important actor in this process and the implementation of this strategy will have a positive impact on their work. Of particular importance within the framework of the implementation of the strategy will be the trainings on ML/TF, which will be organized in cooperation with the AIF but also by the NHN. The AIF has drafted an integrated training plan for the implementation of which we are waiting from donors, but the possibility of finding experts in the field from the NHN should also be considered. At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that DHKN will organize training on ML/TF, considering the possibility of the presence of foreign experts, will publish the national strategy and the summary document of the risk assessment, etc. and AIF will follow the format of the analysis that notaries must maintain within the framework of article 8/7 of law 9917/2008, as amended. At the organized meeting, the representatives of both institutions emphasized the importance of cooperation and the continuation of strengthening effective communication and achieving concrete results.
