On 11.03.2019 at the premises of GDPML, a working meeting was held between the ambassador of the EU delegation in Tirana Mr. Luigi Soreca and the Director of GDPML Mr. Arlind Gjokuta.

In this meeting, Mr. Soreca was informed about the activity of GDPML, the concrete results in the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing, the progress made in terms of the implementation of the action plan for the recommendations of the Moneyval Committee of the Council of Europe, the inter-institutional cooperation with the competent bodies in the country and the exchange of information with partner units of financial intelligence, the alignment of Albanian legislation with that of the European Union, the role of GDPML in terms of identifying and confiscating assets of criminal origin, as well as developments in the field of information technology, EU support in the framework of projects aimed at increasing institutional capacities.

In his speech, Mr. Soreca expressed his appreciation for the work done by GDPML in the fight against organized crime and offered continued support for the further consolidation of the institution, to ensure a strengthening of human and technological capacities and its functioning as financial intelligence unit in the Republic of Albania.
