FIA participated in an event in Strasbourg marking the 30th anniversary of Albania’s membership in the Council of Europe.
The event, “Albania and the Council of Europe: A Journey Towards EU Membership”, highlighted 3 decades of cooperation and its contribution to strengthening democracy, the rule of law, and institutional reforms.
It gathered senior representatives of the CoE, EU officials, ambassadors, and international experts. Opening remarks were delivered by Dastid Koreshi, Claus Neukirch, and Vesna Kos.
During the discussions, Mr. Esposito, Director General for Human Rights and Rule of Law at the CoE, highlighted the strong cooperation between the CoE and its member states, including Albania, and in particular the FIA.
The General Director of the Financial Intelligence Agency underlined the outstanding contribution of the CoE to strengthening institutional, professional, and supervisory capacities, aligning with international standards, and enhancing mechanisms to combat ML,TF, PF.
